IPL auction may be held in December, Chennai Super Kings may release all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is contemplating to auction the players for IPL 2023 in mid-December this year. According to sources, this auction can be held on December 16. An initial schedule has been discussed with the franchisee.

It is believed that this time there will be a small auction but the place for this has not been decided yet. The dates of the next edition of IPL are also not known but it is believed that it can start in the last week of March in the old format. The salary purse for the auction will be Rs 95 crore, which is Rs 5 crore more than last year. If the franchise releases players or takes them away from another team, it will make a difference to the purse. With all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Chennai Super Kings not doing well after IPL 2022, there is a lot of talk whether the team can release them or trade them with another team. According to recent reports, there may be trading between Chennai and Gujarat regarding Jadeja and Shubman Gill. However, both the teams rejected it. Other teams, including Delhi Capitals, have also shown interest in signing Jadeja, but the CSK management maintains that they have no plans to part ways with Jadeja.

Gujarat Titans have also been receiving offers to rope in Rahul Teotia and R Sai Kishore, but the IPL champions have rejected these offers. The transfer or trade window will remain open up to a week before the auction and will reopen after the auction.
