IPL 2022: Proud of boys, says captain Hardik Pandya after Gujarat qualify for playoffs

Pune : Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya has praised his players for making it to the IPL 2022 playoffs in their first year and said that he is really proud of his boys.

Became the first team to

“Really proud of the boys,” he said in a post-match presentation on Tuesday. When we started this journey together, we obviously believed in ourselves, but before qualifying for the 14th game, it’s a great effort and we are really proud of.” ,

Pandya said his boys learned a lot from the five-run loss to the lower team of Mumbai Indians.

“The last game, I talked to the boys before I left, I think, that game was over before it was even over. It was a lesson that we learned. I think all the games we have won, we were always under pressure. The last game was the only game in which we were ahead of the game and we knew what kind of batsmen we had and we would finish it. but that did not happen. It was a group thing.

“Even in this game when he was eight, I said, ‘Let’s be ruthless. This game is beautiful. If it ain’t over, it ain’t over. So let’s make sure we get over it. If they’re down, let’s get them down, get it done and rest after the game,” Pandya said.

He praised his batsmen especially Shubman Gill, who helped him reach the total he could defend.

“The way everyone batted, especially Shubman, I felt with 145 we were in the game. His bowling, I think he was a little bit too short. A little fuller length was working. So it was the same thing in the group as well. The only two shots they can make is a cover drive, if you bowl really full, or if you give width. The bowlers did everything they should have done and we checked all the boxes.
