Hardik Pandya is the best captain of IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans reached the playoffs gracefully

New Delhi, May 11 (H.S.). New team Gujarat Titans have qualified for the playoffs by performing well in the league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Titans, led by their charismatic captain Hardik Pandya, defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 62 runs and became the first team to reach the playoffs.

Gujarat continues to top the IPL 2022 points table, with 9 wins and 18 points from 12 matches. Gujarat has proved the cricket analysts wrong with their game.

Gujarat has been the team to beat in the most exciting IPL season and Hardik Pandya has emerged as the best captain of the tournament so far.

Without any prior experience in captaincy, Hardik proved the opponents wrong with his leadership skills and street smart decisions. He is taking the right decisions at the right time and is fully supportive of his players, which are very good signs for any captain.

The way Hardik has been supporting his players is amazing and as a result, the team sees a new match winner in every game. The decision to hand over the debut cap to an uncapped R Sai Kishore at the end of the tournament also shows the belief in the bench strength of the team management and captain.

Hardik has impressed with his clever captaincy moves. Experts feel that the added responsibility of leading the franchise is bringing out the best from India’s star all-rounder.

Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden feels Hardik is showing all the qualities of a good captain in the current tournament as he continues to do well against big teams.

Speaking on Star Sports show Cricket Live, Matthew Hayden said, “Good cricketers, good captains put their best especially for the best of times and that is Hardik Pandya (for you) right now. He is doing well in all departments. I love his energy.”

Hardik has returned to the cricket pitch after recovering from injury but is showing no signs of fatigue or blockage. The Baroda all-rounder has scored 344 runs in 11 matches at an impressive strike rate of 131.80. Hardik has scored three half-centuries in the most exciting IPL season and has set an example in all three departments.

Former India batting great Sunil Gavaskar lauded the Indian cricketer’s all-rounder skills and the discipline he displayed in the ongoing tournament.

Gavaskar said, “He is saluting Hardik for his hard work. He didn’t play much cricket before IPL as he was recovering from an injury. Now he is showing discipline in his batting. He’s batting well in the powerplays and making full use of the on-field restrictions, he’s doing really well on the field and getting better with every match.”

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh – who shared the dressing room with Hardik during his stint with Mumbai Indians – believes that Hardik is getting complete independence from the Gujarat Titans think tank.

Harbhajan said, “A player like Hardik should have the freedom to work on his game, and he is getting that in Gujarat Titans. For me, he is the best captain this season so far. Taking the responsibility, he is now bowling his full quota of four overs. He is leading the team from the front and has made a habit of scoring consistently with his bat. He always tries to inspire his teammates.”

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif – who has served as a player as well as a coach in the IPL – claimed that Hardik is enjoying the responsibility and that is why his game looks more balanced.

Kaif said, “Hardik is a changed player now. As a captain, he is taking the responsibility of leading the team’s middle-order seriously, scoring. You can see, he is not getting overly aggressive on this. There is a big change in his batting approach as compared to last season.”
