Gujarat beat Himachal Pradesh by 8 wickets, Chintan Gaja’s five wickets
Opening batsman Kathan Patel and skipper Priyank Panchal struck half-centuries as fast bowler Chintan Gaja took five wickets as Gujarat beat Himachal Pradesh by eight wickets in an Elite Group-A league match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy here. Gujarat won the toss and decided to field first. Himachal Pradesh team was all out for 265 runs in 49.2 overs. In the middle order, captain Akash Vashish scored 92 off 88 balls and Mayank Dagar scored 92 off 84 balls. Chintan Gaja took five wickets for 42 runs and Tejas Patel took two wickets for 43 runs. Chasing the match, the Gujarat team won by scoring 270 runs for two wickets in 47.3 overs.
Gujarat, which has been eliminated from the knockout stage, is sixth in the eight-team group with 12 points. The Gujarat team has lost four out of seven matches. For Gujarat, Kathan Patel scored 80 runs in 94 balls, Priyank scored 78 runs in 92 balls and Priyesh Patel scored 68 runs.
