Friday prayers offered amidst tight security in Varanasi
Varanasi, June 24 (H.S.). In view of the United Kisan Morcha’s appeal for Bharat Bandh in protest against the Agneepath scheme, the district administration took special precautions regarding Friday prayers. Juma prayers were offered peacefully across the district including the Gyanvapi campus. During this, the police force was deployed outside the mosques. Elaborate security arrangements were made around the Gyanvapi complex for Friday prayers.
The police team, which was taking special vigil regarding security, patrolled on foot in the mosques, places of worship and in sensitive areas of the city and rural areas, including Gyanvapi, since afternoon. ACP Dashashwamedh Awadhesh Pandey, Inspector-in-Charge Chowk, Inspector-in-Charge Dashashwamedh along with Police Force and PAC force patrolled on foot till Dalmandi, Textile Market New Road, Godauliya, Church Square.
The sensitive areas with mixed population were monitored with the help of drone cameras. Before the scheduled time, amidst tight security, Namazis started reaching Gyanvapi Masjid from gate number four of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple to offer Namaz. The Anjuman Intejamiya Masajid Committee had already appealed to the people to offer Namaz in nearby mosques so that the crowd does not gather in the Friday prayers. Barricading was also done for Namaz at Gate No.-4 of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham. After checking from the gate, the worshipers were given entry into the mosque premises inside. After offering Namaz, people came out from gate number four of Kashi Vishwanath Dham.
