Did BCCI snatch captaincy from Virat Kohli? a big reveal
India’s superstar batsman Virat Kohli has been battling poor form for a long time. He has not scored a century in any format of cricket for the last three years. Under the captaincy of Kohli, the Indian team had to face defeat in the T20 World Cup 2021. Following this, Kohli was stripped of the ODI captaincy, leading Indian fans to feel that the BCCI was not treating him well. Now BCCI treasurer Arun Kumar Dhumal has given a big statement.
Arun Kumar gave this statement
Speaking at an event, Arun Kumar said, “As far as Virat is concerned, he is no ordinary player. He is great and his contribution to Indian cricket is unmatched. Such conversations keep happening in the media and it has no effect on us. We want him to return to form soon and as far as team selection is concerned, we leave it to the selectors.
Virat himself left the captaincy
Arun Kumar Dhumal said, ‘As far as captaincy is concerned, Virat Kohli has decided that I do not want to do it anymore. But this is his point of view. He wanted to step down as captain and it was completely his decision and we respect that. Look, he has contributed so much to Indian cricket that everyone in the cricket board respects him.
Change captain after T20 world cup
After the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli himself left the captaincy of the T20 team. However, after that the BCCI did not want two separate captains for the limited overs format and Test cricket. In such a situation, Rohit Sharma has again been made the captain in all three formats. India could not win a single ICC Champions Trophy under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.
