Commonwealth Games Para TT: Bhavina Patel in final, Raj Aravindan Alagar loses out

Birmingham, 5 August (H.C.). Tokyo Paralympic silver medalist Bhavina Patel advanced to the final of the Commonwealth Games 2022 by defeating Sue Bailey of England 3-0 in the semi-finals of the Para Women’s Table Tennis Singles category 3-5. With this, Bhavina has ensured at least a silver medal for India.

However, India’s Raj Aravindan Alagar crashed out of the men’s singles section 3-5 in the semi-finals after losing 1-3 (7-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-7) to Nigeria’s Nasiru Sule.

Bhavina got off to a good start in the semi-finals and easily won the first game 11-6. They continued their dominance in the match and won the second game 11-6. He then entered the finals in the third game by easily defeating Bailey 11-6 in a one-sided fashion.

Bhavina had earlier made it to the semi-finals of women’s singles after defeating Fiji’s Akanisi Latu in the quarterfinals. Bhavina, in her women’s singles category 3-5 match, defeated Latu 11-1, 11-5, 11-1.
