Commonwealth Games Cricket Semi-Final: India won the toss, elected to bat first

Birmingham, 6 August (H.C.). Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to bat against England in the semi-finals of the cricket tournament at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Saturday.

Both the teams are entering the semi-finals after huge victories in their previous matches. England beat New Zealand by seven wickets in their last match while India beat Barbados by 100 runs in their last match. India finished second in Group A while England topped Group B.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur said at the toss, “We are going to bat first. It’s a fresh track and it’s going to stay the same throughout the game. Before the main game, everyone is performing. This is the right time to perform for the team. Our bowlers are doing well. I am really happy with the way he is bowling.”

England captain Natalie Sciver said, “I wanted to bowl first anyway. Our batsmen and bowlers are full of confidence.”
