Commonwealth Games 2022: Indian wrestlers Kamal, Bajrang, Deepak Punia with Sakshi and Anshu Malik in the final, India’s four medals confirmed
Wrestling in Commonwealth 2022: in Birmingham, England Start Indian men and women wrestlers are seen in peak form in the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022. Bajrang Punia, Deepak Punia and Sakshi Malik in men and Anshu Malik in women have directly qualified for the finals. This has ensured India at least four silver medals in the tournament.
Bajrang Punia with Max Deepak Punia
As the wrestling matches started today, Indian wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Deepak Punia won their first match in wrestling. Bajrang beat Nauru’s Lave Bingham 4-0 while Deepak Punia beat New Zealand’s Mathew 10-0. Then in the men’s 65kg freestyle category, Bajrang defeated a Mauritius wrestler first in the quarterfinals and then George Ram of England in the semifinals by technical superiority. Deepak, on the other hand, won the first quarter-finals by a margin of 6-0 and defeated Alexander Moore of Canada by a margin of 3-1 in the semi-finals to reach the finals.
Sakshi and Anshu Milak’s medals also confirmed
Along with men, women wrestlers have also reached the finals with maximum performances. In this, Anshu Malik and Sakshi Malik have secured at least a silver medal by reaching the final round. This time England’s Sakshi has entered the final round by winning the freestyle 62kg category and Anshu has won in the 57kg category. Divya Kakran will also compete for the bronze medal.
