Commonwealth Games 2022: Fan of Pakistan’s gold medalist Mirabai Chanu

Indian weightlifters have dominated weightlifting in the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games (Commonwealth Games 2022) in Burlingham. But on the fifth day of the tournament, India had to be content with a bronze medal in the men’s 109+ weight category. But in the same weight category, 24-year-old Noah Dastgir Butt of Pakistan won the gold medal for his country by lifting a total of 405 kg. The Pakistani weightlifter is a huge fan of Indian athlete Mirabai Chanu and has said that Mirabai Chanu is our “inspiration”.

The 24-year-old from Pakistan lifted 173 kg in the snatch category at the Commonwealth Games. He lifted 232 kg in the clean and jerk category. He won the gold medal by lifting a total of 405 kg. He broke all three records in this age group in one stroke. Responding to Noah after winning the gold medal, he said, “It was a wonderful moment for me when Mirabai Chanu congratulated me and appreciated my performance.”

Noah, who broke all three records, praised Indian star lifter Miraback, saying, “We look to Mirabai as our source of inspiration. He showed us that even South Asian athletes can win Olympic medals. We were all very proud of him when he won the Tokyo Olympic medal.

Also Noah said about Gurdeep, who won a bronze medal in the 109+ kg category, “It’s not like I was competing with any Indian weightlifter. I was just trying to give my best. Noah Butt has toured India for 2 international tournaments. He came to India to play the first tournament in 2015 in Pune and the second in Guwahati. Talking about this, he said, ‘I have visited India twice. I will never forget the support I got there. I want to come to India again. I think I have more fans in India than in Pakistan. ,
