Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 7: India’s August 4 schedule, a look at PV Sindhu and Amit Panghal
India will have a chance to win medals in athletics and para-athletics in the Commonwealth Games today i.e. on Thursday, 4 August. Apart from this, Indian boxers will also enter the field to win medals in boxing. In hockey, the men’s team will play Wales in Pool B. Till Wednesday, 18 medals including 5 gold have come in India’s account. India has won a total of 10 medals in weightlifting.
Star boxer Amit Panghal will enter the men’s 48kg quarterfinals on the seventh day of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. He will face Lennon Mulligan of Scotland. In the Para Powerlifting final, Sakina Khatoon, Manpreet Kaur and Paramjit Singh will contest for the medal. Para-powerlifter Sudhir will also be eyeing a medal in the men’s heavyweight. Hima Das will also be seen running in the women’s 200m heat.
Two-time Olympic medalist shuttler PV Sindhu will compete in the women’s singles round of 32. In front of him will be 23-year-old Maldivian shuttler Fatimath. In badminton itself, the pair of Sumit Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa will enter the round of 32 match of mixed doubles.
