Adil Rashid will not take part in white ball series against India

New Delhi, 24 June (H.S.). England’s star spinner Adil Rashid will miss the white-ball series against India due to the Haj pilgrimage to Mecca.

The last match of the five-match Test series will be played between England and India from July 1, which was postponed last year due to Kovid. After this, limited overs matches will be played between the two teams from 7 to 17 July.

Rashid will also miss the later stages of Yorkshire’s T20 Blast campaign and has been discharged by the ECB and Yorkshire.

As per ESPNcricinfo report Rashid said, “I wanted to go on Haj pilgrimage, but I found it very difficult with time. This year, I felt like it was something I had to do, and something I wanted to do as well.”

“I spoke to the ECB and Yorkshire about it and they were very understanding and encouraging,” he added.

Explain that all adult Muslims are expected to perform Hajj at least once in their lifetime if they are physically capable and financially sound enough to do so.

He said, “This is a big moment: every religion has its own thing but for Islam and as a Muslim, it is bigger than everything else. It’s a big deal for me and my faith. I knew I needed to do it as long as I was young and strong and healthy. It’s something I’ve really committed to myself that I’ll do.”

The leg-spinner will fly for Haj pilgrimage on Saturday. He is expected to return in mid-July ahead of England’s white-ball series against South Africa.
