What can and cannot be eaten during fasting

In this fast only fruit is eaten at one time. Vrati should not eat any kind of grains, common salt, red chillies and other spices. Sweets made of milk, milk-curd and fruits are offered and these items are also donated. After fasting on Ekadashi, on the second day of Dwadashi, there is a rule to donate food grains, pulses, salt, ghee etc. and some money directly.
