Because it is believed that Tulsi is also very dear to Lord Vishnu. Tulsi is also revered for its medicinal properties. Mother Lakshmi resides in the house where there is a Tulsi plant. That is why Tulsi is worshiped in every house according to the rituals.
Tulsi plants grown at home transmit positive energy. But the mistakes made during the worship of Tulsi plant can have the opposite effect. There are some things to keep in mind while planting Tulsi.
Keep these things in mind while worshiping Tulsi
Watering the Tulsi plant regularly and worshiping it is considered auspicious. But in the scriptures, it is forbidden to offer water to the Tulsi plant on Sundays and Ekadashi. On this day a lamp should not be lit near Tulsi in the evening. Also, water should not be offered to Tulsi on the day of solar and lunar eclipses.
Basil leaves never get spoiled or stale, so its leaves should not be thrown away. It is considered very sacred. On the contrary, these leaves can also be used in worship.
It is a religious belief that Tulsi leaves should never be cut in the evening for use in worship. To do so is a sin.
It is believed that regularly lighting a lamp of ghee near Tulsi brings happiness and prosperity in the house.
It is also believed about the Tulsi plant that it should not be planted facing the south direction. Doing so can cause financial loss to the family members. On the other hand, applying Tulsi in the north or north direction of the house brings happiness and prosperity in the house.
