Rules for cutting basil leaves

  • According to the scriptures, Tulsi is so sacred that Lord Vishnu carried it on his head. Not only this, Lord Vishnu does not accept offerings without Tulsi. It is believed that even after forgetting these two yogas, the Tulsi plant should not be cut.
  • Also, do not pluck Tulsi leaves by mistake on Tuesday, Sunday and Friday. It is also believed that leaves should not be plucked on Ekadashi, Amavasya and Poornima.
  • Tulsi plant should not be cut on the day of Sankranti unless someone is born and named in the house. Apart from this, if someone dies in the house, then Tulsi leaves should not be plucked till the thirteenth day.
