According to Ujjain’s astrologer Pt. Manish Sharma, if there is Bhadra in Rakshabandhan, then that time is not suitable for tying Rakshasutra. This time Shravan Purnima will start on August 11 at 10.38 am. The next day i.e. on August 12, the full moon will remain till 7.16 am. Due to the difference in the calendar, Rakshabandhan festival will be celebrated on 12th August in many regions.

Purnima Tithi will last for less than three Muhurtas from sunrise. Therefore, celebrating the festival of Rakshabandhan on 11th August will be more auspicious. On August 11, Bhadra is going to last all day. Bhadra will end at 8.30 pm. Only after that the rakshasutra should be tied. On this day there will be four Chaudhaya Muhurtas from 8.30 am to 9.55 pm. It would be more auspicious to tie a Rakshasutra at this time.

This is how Rakshabandhan Vedic Rakshasutra should be done
On the full moon day of Shravan, take a bath in the morning and worship the deities. One should offer prayers to the ancestors. On this day after 8.30 pm, cotton or silky yellow cloth should be tied with mustard, saffron, sandalwood, rice durva and coin. The Kalash should be installed in the temple of the house and Vedic Rakshasutra should be placed on it. Worship rituals. After the worship, a sister or a Brahmin should tie the Vedic Rakshasutra on her right hand. It is believed that this protection formula protects you for a year.

On the day of Rakshabandhan, Jupiter will be retrograde in Pisces. Moon will be in Capricorn with Saturn. The combination of these planets creates poison yoga. Donate new clothes, shoes, umbrellas to the needy people on the full moon day. Puja material should be offered in the temple. Donate for the care of cows in Gaushala. Worship Ganesh ji first thing in the morning. Light incense-lamps in front of Hanuman, chant Hanuman Chalisa, Sunderkand or Hanuman Mantras. Mahadev should be anointed with water and milk.
