Gundicha Yatra is the most important journey of Lord Jagannath’s journey.

Gundicha Yatra is the most important of the twelve journeys of Lord Jagannath. Vishwakarma made the idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadraji and Subhadraji in this Gundicha temple. These idols were revered by Maharaja Indradyum, hence the Gundicha temple is also known as Brahmaloka or Janakpur. Shri Jagannath ji is seated in the Gundicha temple at the time of the Yatra, at that time the festival held in the temple is called Gundicha Mahotsav.

Lord Jagannathji means the Nath of the world i.e. Lord Vishnu. Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri, Orissa is considered one of the four holy temples of India. The Saptapuris have special significance in the Sanatan tradition and include the holy city of Lord Jagannath Puri.

According to Hindu mythology, it is said that everyone should visit Jagannath Temple once in a lifetime. Every year Jagannath Rath Yatra is organized in Puri. Lord Jagannath is said to visit the famous Gundicha Mata temple once a year through this pilgrimage, which attracts people not only from India but from all over the world. The preparations for the yatra are in full swing in Puri, the great festival of Jagannath Rath Yatra is celebrated on the seed day of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month and this year this festival will be on 1st July 2022.

This is how the travel chariot is made

Three chariots have been prepared for Lord Krishna, Balabhadra ji and Subhadra ji with beautifully designed rugs to sit on. After the construction of the chariot, they are honored by worshiping them with mantras according to the scriptural method. The route of the Rath Yatra is completely sacred. Bouquets of flowers, garlands, beautiful clothes, chanwars and flower circles are made on both sides of the road. The ground of the Yatra route should be level beforehand and there should be no mud so that the chariot of God can run smoothly.

The pilgrimage is called by worshiping the Lord

If the seed date of Shukla Paksha of Ashadha month is Pushya Nakshatra, then on that date the Lord is worshiped at sunrise and then prayers are offered to Lord Jagannath with folded hands. Oh My God! Perform a victory march from the chariot to the Gundicha Mandapa as you have ordered King Indradyumna in the past. By your grace all the ten directions are purified and all movable and immovable beings are blessed. Devotees throng to see Nath Nagar Charya when he goes out with auspicious work.
