According to Ujjain’s astrologer Pt. Manish Sharma, the entire day of Raksha Bandhan will be Bhadra Kaal. On this day Bhadra will remain till 8.30 pm. It is believed that Rakshasutra should not be tied during Bhadra period. On the day of Raksha Bandhan, four Chaudhaya will be organized from 8.30 to 9.55 pm. Rakshasutra can be tied at this time.

Lord Mahadev should be anointed on the day of Shravan Purnima. Abhishek with water, milk and Panchamrit is considered more auspicious. Panchamrit is prepared by mixing milk, curd, ghee, sugar candy and honey. After offering Panchamrit, one should do abhishek with holy water. Bilva leaves, cotton flowers, dhotra along with garlands, flowers and worship materials should be offered. Chant Shiva Mantras. Aarti should be performed by lighting incense and lamps.
