After hearing a PIL filed against the demolition of an illegal religious structure built on government land in Uttarakhand, the High Court has reserved its decision. The case was heard before a division bench of Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rakesh Thaplial.

The Chief Justice said in the hearing that illegal religious structures built on government land should be demolished. There should be no discrimination of religion in this. The court said that by filing such an application, the petitioners want to gain popularity in the area. The bench also asked the petitioner’s lawyer to impose a fine of one lakh rupees. The bench then reserved the matter.
Application for reconstruction of temple rejected
According to the case, Hamza Rao and others had filed a Public Interest Litigation in the High Court saying that the government was violating the constitutions of a particular religion by giving it an illegal name. The petitioner told the court that this action against a particular religion should be stopped immediately and the temples should be reconstructed. Petitions filed by the petitioner’s advocate Bilal Ahmed for Chandan Pir Baba’s Mazar of Kankhal at Jwalapur have been dismissed.
