New Delhi: A child of any age can be enrolled for Aadhaar card. There is no age limit prescribed for Aadhaar enrolment. Even a new born baby can get enrolled for Aadhaar, which is called child Aadhaar. Aadhaar issuing body UIDAI has recently said that there will be no change in your child’s Aadhaar number after updating biometrics.

UIDAI tweeted:

Aadhaar number of the parent, along with the birth certificate of the child, is sufficient to enroll your child for Aadhaar between the age group of 0-5 years. Biometric information is not collected for children under the age of 5. And because no biometrics will be captured for children below the age of 5 years, their UID will be processed based on the demographic information and facial photograph linked to their parent’s UID. These children will need to update their biometrics of ten fingers, iris and facial image when they are 5 and 15 years old.

To enroll your child for Aadhaar, all you need is the child’s birth certificate or hospital discharge slip and Aadhaar of either parent.

You can register online to generate Aadhaar card for infants or newborns, however to complete the process, you will have to visit an Aadhaar Enrollment Center set up by the Enrollment Agency for Aadhaar Enrolment. You can also find the nearest Enrollment Center by clicking on “Find Enrollment Center” or You need to enter the state, district and locality to find the nearest enrollment center.
