2 cups water
1 tsp turmeric powder
Sesame oil
red chilli
2 tsp coriander seeds
2 tbsp chana dal dal
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
1/4 tsp black pepper
half teaspoon oil
1/4 tsp turmeric
Tamarind 50 grams
two cups of hot water
3 tbsp sesame oil
one teaspoon mustard seeds
a pinch of asafoetida
10 to 12 curry leaves
2 to 3 dry red chillies
2 tsp jaggery powder

How to make tamarind rice

To make tamarind rice, wash the rice and keep it for cooking. When 3-4 whistles come, then your rice is cooked and ready. Keep it on a large plate or tray to cool down. Now add turmeric powder, sesame oil to this rice, mix it well and keep it aside. Now prepare tamarind, put tamarind and hot water in a bowl and keep it for 30 minutes to soak.

Prepare the masala for the rice and add all the whole spices except asafoetida. If it is roasted on a low flame, keep it separately. Fry chana dal and urad dal till light golden. Add asafoetida to it and mix all the spices with it and let it cool. Now put this spice in the grinder and grind it by adding red chillies along with lentils. Heat oil in a pan, then add mustard seeds and urad dal, add chana dal and peanuts and fry well.

Dry red chilies, green chilies, turmeric powder, curry leaves, strain the tamarind pulp and add it to the tempering mixture. Add salt and jaggery powder and cook on medium heat. Now add the cooked masala, now put this mixture in the cooked rice and mix it well. Your tamarind rice is ready. Serve it with papad and rasham.
