If you love spicy food, then you must try this traditional Rajasthani dish as it is very tasty. This is one of the easy recipe of Dal Bati, which consists of crispy batis made of wheat flour, semolina or semolina, salt and ghee. These baatis are cooked in a tandoor which gives a smoky flavor when dipped in dal. This dal is also unique and is prepared from 3-4 types of lentils. Dal has a tempering of several authentic Rajasthani spices which gives it a distinct flavour. Let’s try the recipe to make it:

1 cup wheat flour
1/4 cup green moong dal
1/4 cup chana dal
1/2 tbsp ghee
1/4 tsp garam masala powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/8 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
2 pinch salt
1/2 tbsp green coriander
1/4 inch ginger
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp mustard
2 cups water
1/4 cup toor dal
1 tbsp urad dal
for the dough
1/2 tbsp semolina
1 tbsp ghee
1 pinch salt

Step 1/4 Knead the dough for the bati
To make bati, take a glass bowl and add wheat flour along with rava, salt and ghee. With the help of hands knead a hard dough with lukewarm water. Shape the dough into the shape of a ping pong ball. Meanwhile, heat the gas tandoor and fry the dough balls on low flame for some time. Make sure they are brown and crusty.

Step 2/4 Prepare the Dal
Then, break open the top and pour some fresh ghee on the half. Then to prepare the lentils, wash all the pulses together and add 1 cup of water and a quarter teaspoon of turmeric. Pressure cook the dal for 2 whistles. Let the cooker cool down and remove the dal.

Step 3/4 Temper the Spices
Make a thin paste by mixing all the spice powders in 1/2 cup of water. Put ghee in a pan on medium heat, add cumin and coriander. Once they begin to splutter, add ginger. Then add the paste of spice powder and fry for a minute, add the cooked lentils.

Step 4: Garnish the dal with lemon juice and green coriander
Then add the remaining water and mix well. Boil it. Add lemon juice to it to get that extra zing. Check and add salt if needed. Garnish with chopped coriander. Serve hot with freshly made baati and dal.
