A Madhya Pradesh Congress leader has filed a review petition in the court against the Supreme Court’s decision to approve the Centre’s decision on EWS. It is notable that a few days ago, the Supreme Court had given a decision to continue the decision of the Central Government to give 10 percent reservation to the economically weaker sections.

The petition filed by Jaya Thakur has sought review of the November 7 verdict of the Supreme Court. This review petition has been filed by advocate Varinder Kumar Sharma.

A bench headed by Chief Justice U Lalit gave this verdict by 3-2. It has become clear that through the 103rd Constitutional Amendment in 2019, the Central Government has made arrangements to provide 10 percent reservation in education and jobs to the economically weaker sections. Which is not a violation of the constitution.

A five-member bench of the Supreme Court gave its verdict on EWS reservation. In which Justice Dinesh Maheshwari agreed on EWS reservation. He said that reservation given on economic basis does not in any way violate the basic structure of the Constitution.

Justice Bela M Trivedi also agreed with Justice Maheshwari. He also said that EWS reservation does not violate the Constitution in any way. Justice Pardiwala also upheld the EWS reservation.
