Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will visit UAE on Sunday and convey India’s condolences on the demise of Sheikh Khalifa

New Delhi: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will visit the United Arab Emirates on Sunday (May 15) to convey India’s condolences on the demise of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. The leader of the Gulf country, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, died on Friday (May 13).

“Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will visit the United Arab Emirates on May 15 to express condolences on behalf of the Government of India led by the UAE on the sad demise of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi ” The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

 

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday condoled the death of Sheikh Khalifa.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in New Delhi on Saturday and offered India’s condolences. India also observed a day of national mourning in honor of Sheikh Khalifa on Saturday.

 

“Under the leadership of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, India-UAE relations became very prosperous for the mutual benefit of the peoples of both countries. He took exceptional care of the large Indian community in the UAE, who held him in high esteem. ,” said the Ministry of External Affairs.

It said the two countries will continue to advance their historical and comprehensive strategic ties in new and diverse areas.
