Vadodara: 25 samples taken by Food and Health Department failed, fine of Rs 3.31 lakh recovered from 25 traders

Do you trust the quality of food you buy from outside? , Food lovers should be careful before eating spicy food. This question is because the Food and Health Department of VMC This worrying matter has come to the fore in the inspection of A fine of Rs 3.31 lakh has been collected from 25 traders who do not pass the samples of food items taken from different places by the Food and Health Department of Vadodara Municipal Corporation.

The Food and Health Department of Vadodara Municipal Corporation has taken samples of food items from different areas of the city and it is shocking to see whether they are fit for consumption. Out of more than 75 samples taken during the year 2021-22, 25 samples failed and 25 traders were fined Rs 3.31 lakh by VMC as per rules.

This operation of the Food and Health Department is very important for the health of the residents of Vadodara, but Leader of Opposition Ami Rawat was not satisfied with this action and government figures dragging the festivals. At the same time, the opposition leader of VMC has made another serious allegation that there are not enough food inspectors in proportion to the population of Vadodara, instead of 22 food inspectors in proportion to the population of Vadodara there are only 8 food inspectors.

There are also some rules and regulations regarding whether the food is edible or not. Food sampling is also a specific process and based on that food is classified into 4 categories.

  1. way
  2. Waste
  3. miss branded
  4. vulnerable

Food and Safety Department of VMC conducts surprise raids on vendors selling raw and processed food items including hotels, restaurants, lorries, spice vendors, dairy item vendors, which are examined in VMC’s health laboratory and action is taken accordingly .

Though now only those found to be substandard or mis-branded in the samples taken by the Food and Health Department of VMC are punished, there are a large number of dangerous samples which can be fined and imprisoned for 6 months. And exemplary action is never taken. Because of this, businessmen become ruthless, risking the health of citizens and earning a meager profit. which cannot be said to be correct.
