The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, under the Ministry of Earth Affairs, Government of India, has developed the ‘Damini App’ to alert people of lightning. This app will provide accurate information about lightning, thunder and lightning up to 30 minutes in advance. For this, scientists have installed lightning location networks with about 48 sensors in different parts of the country.
The meteorologist said the network provides an accurate forecast of lightning. Based on this network, the Damini app has been developed, which will give information about the possible location of electricity within a radius of 40 km. This network reports lightning as well as the speed of the storm.
The app also provides first aid information including power outage prevention and safety measures below. Dr. Singh said that lightning is an adverse weather condition, which is dangerous for humans and animals. It cannot be stopped, but forecasting storms with the help of Vigilance and Damini app can save lives and money.

Do not wash metal utensils and avoid bathing etc. If it is not possible to go home, then get down on your knees and sit in an open place. Never use an umbrella.
