Tata Motors said in a statement, “We are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire.” We will provide more detailed information only after our inquiry is completed. The company says that we are committed to the safety of our vehicles and customers. A video of Tata’s electric car catching fire is being shared widely on social media. After this the company has issued a statement. According to Tata Motors, this is the first case of fire and so far the company has sold over 30,000 electric vehicles, mostly Nexon models, and these vehicles have covered 100 million kms.

Earlier, an electric scooter caught fire and people were injured. The government had ordered an inquiry. On examination, a defect was found in the battery cell. Several electric bike manufacturers such as Ola Electric, Okinawa Autotech and Pure EV have also recalled bikes. The government has also warned of fines for electric scooter manufacturers. A committee constituted by the road transport ministry after the electric vehicle fire incident is expected to submit its report by this month.
