Pakistan based underworld don in India Dawood Ibrahim D Company Raids were conducted yesterday at 29 locations linked to National Investigation Agency in Mumbai (NIA) interviewed a total of 15 people at various places like Nagpada, Mumbra, Mahim, Bhendi Bazar, Santacruz, Goregaon, Borivali, Bhiwandi. Those detained include Dawood Ibrahim’s right hand, Chhota Shakeel’s brother-in-law Salim Qureshi alias Salim Frutno and Mumbai’s famous Haji Ali and Mahim Dargah trustee Sohail Khandwani. Sohail Khandwani is the business partner of Nawab Malik, a minister in the Maharashtra government. Salim Fruit’s name also came up in ED’s inquiry against Nawab Malik. Salim Fruit gave some important information about Nawab Malik. The ED is said to have played an important role in preparing the charge sheet against Nawab Malik through inputs from Salim Fruit and Iqbal Kaskar, brother of Dawood Ibrahim, lodged in Taloja jail.

Raids were also conducted at the house of Aslam Sarodia, owner of Baba Faluda. The house of bookie-turned-builder Ajay Gosalia was also searched and questioned. Raids were conducted at 24 places in Mumbai and 5 in Thane.

In February, the NIA had registered an FIR in Mumbai in connection with Dawood Ibrahim’s hawala network, drugs, terror funding and counterfeit currency transactions.
