Punjab: Summer vacation will be held in schools from June 1-30
Chandigarh : Punjab Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hare said that Punjab has rescheduled summer vacations in all schools, which will now be from June 1 to June 30 instead of May 14. He said that the decision was taken after the demand of students, parents and teachers to schedule summer vacations on the lines of previous years. The Education Department, reconsidering its decision, said that classes will be conducted in offline mode from May 15 to May 31 in all government, aided private schools, while summer vacations have been scheduled from June 1 to June 30.
Let us inform that a fortnight ago, the Punjab government had declared summer vacation in all schools from May 14 in view of the scorching heat in the state. Clarifying on this, the Minister said that during the last two days due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the offline classes are being disrupted on several occasions. Over the years, the studies of the students have been adversely affected. Hence, it was the demand of the parents as well as the students to schedule summer vacations as before. He also said that from May 15 to May 31, the primary school timings would be from 7 am to 11 am. Middle/Higher/Senior Secondary Schools will open from 7 am to 12:30 pm.
