Presidential election 2022: BJP nominates Draupadi Murmu as its presidential candidate

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidate for the Presidential election. The party has made Draupadi Murmu its candidate. Earlier, a meeting of the BJP’s parliamentary board was held at the party headquarters to discuss the name of the presidential candidate.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other members of the Parliamentary Board.

After the meeting, BJP President JP Nadda said, “In today’s parliamentary board meeting, we all came to the view that BJP and NDA should announce our candidate for President after talking to all their constituents. ” NDA has declared Draupadi Murmu as its presidential candidate.

He said that about 20 names were discussed in the meeting. We also tried to consult the opposition forces.

 

Opposition has declared Yashwant Sinha as its candidate

The opposition parties met today to discuss the presidential election. After the meeting, the opposition declared Yashwant Sinha as its candidate. Jairam Ramesh, Sudheendra Kulkarni, Dipankar Bhattacharya, Sharad Pawar, D Raja, Tiruchi Siva (DMK), Praful Patel, Yechury, NK Premachandran (RSP), Manoj Jha, Mallikarjun Kharge, Randeep Surjewala, Hasnain Masofar (National) and Ram Gopal Yadav were also present in the meeting.

Who is Yashwant Sinha?

Yashwant Sinha was an Indian politician and former senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party who is currently the leader of the ruling Trinamool Congress in Bengal. He has resigned from Trinamool Congress this morning.

Yashwant Sinha joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1960 and served for more than 24 years, holding several important positions during his tenure. For 4 years he served as Sub-Divisional Magistrate and District Magistrate. After serving as Under Secretary and Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Government of Bihar, he served as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.
