Presidential Election 2022: NDA’s Draupadi Murmu is the presidential candidate, Nadda announced

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party has announced its candidate for the Presidential election. The parliamentary board meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party was held after consultations with NDA allies. After the meeting, JP Nadda announced the name of the presidential candidate. BJP has nominated Draupadi Murmu as its presidential candidate. The term of outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind ends on July 24. According to the Election Commission, polling will be held on July 18 and results will be declared on July 21.

Significantly, the opposition today declared Yashwant Sinha as its presidential candidate. The decision to field Draupadi Murmu was taken at the Parliamentary Board meeting held at the BJP headquarters here today. Apart from PM Modi, other leaders including party president JP Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari were present in the meeting.

 

In the press conference, JP Nadda said that for the first time the country is preparing to bring a President from the tribal community. By announcing her name, the party has worked for the upliftment of the tribal community on one hand and on the other hand has also given the message of women empowerment.

Know who is Draupadi Murmu?
Draupadi Murmu, who comes from the tribal community, has been the governor of Jharkhand for six years and a month. Murmu hails from Rairangpur, Odisha. Yesterday was Murmu’s birthday. He was born on 20 June 1958. He is 64 years old.

 

It is noteworthy that the BJP-NDA is in a strong position in terms of numbers in the presidential election and if it gets the support of forces like BJD or YSR Congress of Andhra Pradesh then its victory will be confirmed.
