The Indian Navy on Friday successfully test-fired a Vertical, Short-Range, Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) from a warship in Odisha’s Chandipur. After the test, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted and congratulated the Indian Navy and (Defence Research and Development Organisation) DRDO for their efforts.

Releasing a picture of the missile test, Rajnath Singh wrote, “Congratulations to DRDO, Indian Navy for successfully testing a Vertical, Short Range, Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) from Chandipur, Odisha. ” The missile test will enhance the defense capability of the Indian Navy against aerial threats.

The Department of Defense Production also tweeted that it promotes the government’s vision of a self-reliant India. Congratulations to DRDO.

Earlier this month, India also successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable Agni-IV intermediate-range ballistic missile from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. The Defense Ministry said the test reaffirmed India’s policy of having a “reliable minimum barrier” capability.
