Free Ration: Good news for ration card holders, free food grains for the next 6 months?

Free Ration Scheme: The central government is preparing to take a big decision for the common man. The central government can take a decision to provide free ration to the general public for the next 6 months under the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKY). According to the scheme of the central government, free food grains will be given till the month of September. But the central government (Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana) can distribute free food grains for the next 6 months. The central government can extend this scheme beyond September 30. (The central government can extend the PMGky Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for the next 3 to 6 months after 30 September 2022)

Extension likely for 3-6 months

According to media reports, the government is currently giving 5 kg of food grains to the poor free of cost. It is also believed that the central government can extend this scheme for the next 3 to 6 months. Meanwhile, the decision could cost the government exchequer up to $10 billion.

What did the officials say?

Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said, ‘The government is planning to extend the free ration scheme till September 30. Decision may be taken soon. However, there is no official information about when the decision will be taken.

 

Under this Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, free ration was started from March 2020. Under this scheme, about 80 crore beneficiaries were given free ration across the country. Free ration of 5 kg per month is given to the people by the government. At present, the government has extended this scheme many times and this scheme is till 30 September. That is why all the ration holders are going to pay attention to whether the central government will take any such decision which will give relief to the common people.
