Vice Chancellor Prof. BR Kamboj was addressing a seminar on ‘Contribution of Women in India’s Freedom Struggle’ organized by the University in collaboration with Panchanad Research Institute, Study Centre, Hisar on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi. The Vice Chancellor said that in India’s freedom struggle, women have proved that they are such a national power that they can fight against the greatest of power by breaking free from all shackles for the freedom and rights of the nation.

He presented himself in this national movement with different dimensions. He said that from the beginning to the end of the freedom struggle, women not only actively participated in peaceful movements to revolutionary activities, but also sacrificed their lives. We all remember the revolt of the world’s greatest and mighty empire by Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi in 1857 for independence, in which this great heroine even sacrificed her life.

Similarly, there are many such heroines who participated in the movements against the British rule of Gandhiji and also gave arrest. He presented himself in this movement with different dimensions. He said that women were neither behind men yesterday nor today. They are progressing in every field like men. He said that 75 years of independence have been completed but even today the love and respect for those personalities has not diminished in the hearts of the countrymen, who laid down their lives for the sake of freedom.
