Congress President Election: Congress appeals to its leaders – do not comment on any colleague

New Delhi: The Congress has appealed to all its spokespersons and office bearers of the communication department to refrain from commenting on any electoral ally. The Congress’s move comes a day after party leader Gaurav Vallabh criticized Shashi Tharoor’s possible candidature for the AICC president’s election. Gaurav Vallabh on Thursday hit out at Shashi Tharoor, saying his biggest contribution to the party was sending letters to Sonia Gandhi when she was hospitalised.

Jairam Ramesh’s message to leaders

It is noteworthy that Gaurav Vallabh had supported Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in the election for the post of Congress President. Sources said that AICC General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has sent a message to all the speakers and all the public relations offices. Jairam Ramesh said, “I appeal to all the spokespersons and public relations offices to refrain from commenting on any colleague contesting for a higher post.”

Sources quoted the Congress general secretary as saying, “If elections are held on October 17, we will welcome it. Right now the focus of the entire party-organization should be on the couple’s visit to India, which has already received a good response.
