Biplab Dev resigned due to infighting in BJP: Trinamool
Kolkata, 14 May (H.S.). The Trinamool Congress, the ruling party in West Bengal, has taken a jibe at the resignation of Biplab Dev, the first BJP chief minister in Tripura. Party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh has said that Biplab Dev has resigned because of the infighting in the Bharatiya Janata Party. On Saturday evening, Ghosh said that the BJP, which has not even completed its first term of Chief Minister, cannot rule in the interest of the people in the state. He expressed confidence that the Trinamool Congress will form the government in Tripura in the next year’s 2023 assembly elections, replacing the BJP.
It is noteworthy that after overthrowing the Left Front rule of 25 years, the BJP government was formed for the first time in Tripura. Biplab Dev was the first BJP chief minister of the state.
BJP sources said that the party wants to enter the assembly elections with a new face and Dev will be engaged in organizational work. Manik Saha has been elected as the new chief minister of the state in the legislature party meeting following Dev’s resignation in the presence of BJP’s central in-charge Bhupendra Yadav and Vinod Tawde.
