Arms smuggler arrested
New Delhi, 24 June (H.S.). Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a miscreant who smuggled arms in Delhi NCR. Another person was also arrested for buying weapons on his behest. The accused have been identified as Firoz Khan and Rizwan. Police have recovered two pistols, four pistols and six live cartridges from the accused. Police have produced both the accused before the court and have taken them on remand for questioning.
Crime Branch DCP Vichitra Veer said on Friday that the Western Range had received information that some youths were smuggling weapons in Delhi NCR. SI Savindra came to know that Loni resident Firoz is about to come near Bhalswa lake to supply arms.
On this information, under the supervision of ACP Rajkumar, the team of Inspector Abhijeet raided during the night and caught the suspect youth with a bag. During interrogation, he revealed his name as Firoz. Two pistols, three pistols and 13 live cartridges were recovered in the search of the bag with him. A case of Arms Act was registered regarding this.
During interrogation, Firoz told the police that his family consists of father, wife and two children. He sells clothes in Loni Bazar. The income earned from this could not support his family. Due to this, he started smuggling illegal weapons to earn quick money. He told the police that a few days ago he had given a pistol to a youth named Rizwan. On this information, the police team arrested Rizwan and recovered a pistol from him.
