After Chandigarh University Row, Gujarat School Girls Complain Against Filming Cook During Bath

Valsad: After Chandigarh University and IIT Bombay, a government school in Gujarat is in the news for the wrong reasons. According to a report by news agency IANS, the girl students of Eklavya Kanya Saksharta Shala, a government residential school in Valsad district of south Gujarat, have alleged that the cook of the hostel mess filmed them while they were taking a bath.

Considering the gravity of the allegations, a deputy superintendent of police, a police inspector of the local crime branch, a local sub-inspector and even a deputy collector are investigating the matter. Valsad district superintendent of police Rajdeep Singh Zala assured, “If anyone is found indulging in such act, a case will be registered against him under the law.”

At the same time, the official, while addressing the local media, said, ‘The students did not mention video recording or photo taking in their written application to the school principal or the police. The application, submitted by Kalpesh Patel, independent representative of Dharampur taluka panchayat, has complained of poor quality of food, girls harassing the cook and discrimination against tribal girls. But now the oral complaints of video recording will be investigated. There are four male cooks and only one cook has an Android phone, which is now in the possession of the police and is being investigated.

The school’s principal, Neeta Choudhary, told local media that the initial complaint was about the poor quality of the food and had demanded a female cook.
