Weight Gain: ‘These’ 5 Reasons You Can Sudden Gain Weight!

5 Reasons for Sudden Weight Gain: It is completely normal to gain weight with age. As age increases, physical activity decreases. You run, play and the currencies almost stop. Slow activity, natural loss of muscle mass, slow metabolism, etc. are many reasons why you gain weight. If your weight suddenly increases then it is not normal for the body. Hormonal imbalance, thyroid or any other reason can also be behind this.

Experts say the human body is complex. With the passage of time, many problems are coming in it. One of these is sudden weight gain. Healthshots.com spoke to Dr. Shruti Awasthi, Senior Gynecologist and Obstetrician, what could be the reasons for sudden weight gain. He gave many reasons for sudden weight gain.

hypothyroidism

Doctor. Shruti says, “Whenever a woman asks the doctor the reason for sudden weight gain, the doctor first asks to check the thyroid. We all know that we have a butterfly-shaped gland in our neck, which is responsible for secreting hormones that regulate metabolism. If your thyroid is underactive (hypothyroidism), metabolism may slow down. This can lead to weight gain. It can also cause women to experience fatigue, low energy levels, dry skin, hair loss or changes in voice. So first get your thyroid level checked and take the right medicine.

menopause

Basically, the period before the onset of menopause is called perimenopause. It usually starts after 40 years in women. Many changes occur during the perimenopause phase. As a result, the estrogen hormone increases or decreases unevenly. This not only leads to weight gain but also changes like hot flashes, decreased sex drive, irregular periods etc. Due to this the muscles become loose and fat starts increasing in the body.

polycystic ovary syndrome

Research suggests that one in five women will suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) at some point. It is an endocrine hormone disorder that disrupts the balance of the reproductive hormones estrogen and testosterone. This not only causes irregular periods but also affects the body’s use of insulin. It affects the blood sugar level and leads to weight gain in the middle of the body.

stress and anxiety

When you are under stress your adrenaline glands get affected. The secretion of the hormone cortisol begins to increase. This allows the body to store both energy and fat. Most of us are stressed due to office or domestic problems. If the level of cortisol hormone remains high for a long time then fat starts accumulating in the body. This can also lead to weight gain.

bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine

The good bacteria along with probiotics are responsible for the proper functioning of the gut, Dr. Shruti tells. But bad bacteria are also present in the digestive system. Bacterial overgrowth can occur in the small intestine when the balance of good bacteria and bad bacteria is disturbed. This can cause bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea and excess gas in your intestines. This can lead to a sudden increase in your weight. Apart from this, excessive use of the drug can also lead to sudden weight gain.
