Janani Suraksha Yojana Benefits: The central government keeps running various schemes for the women of the country. Many of these schemes are run to provide financial assistance to women. One of those schemes is Jan Suraksha Yojana. In this scheme, the government provides financial assistance to pregnant women. Under the Jan Suraksha Yojana, the government provides financial assistance of Rs 3400 to the poor and economically weaker sections of women. This money is provided by the government for the food and care expenses of pregnant women and newborn babies. This scheme is also run in all the states and union territories (UTs).
What is the objective of this scheme?
This scheme was launched by the central government on 12 April 2005. The objective of the government behind launching this scheme is to reduce maternal and child mortality in the country and enable poor women to get good food after the birth of their child. Government provides financial assistance to women living in rural and urban areas under Jan Suraksha Yojana (JSY).
How much assistance do women living in rural areas get?
If you live in rural areas below the poverty line, you will get financial assistance of Rs 1,400. Along with this, Rs 300 is given by the government for Asha Sahayak and Rs 300 for additional service. In such a situation, total women living in rural areas get financial assistance of Rs 2,000.
How much help do women living in urban areas get?
For women living in urban areas, a total of Rs. 1,000 in the form of financial assistance. Along with this, Rs 200 is given to an ASHA colleague and Rs 200 for additional help.
