Trisha Krishnan is currently busy promoting her much awaited project Ponniyin Selvan. The popular actress is playing the role of much-loved character Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai in Mani Ratnam’s directorial, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s epic novel of the same name. Trisha’s many looks for the role of Chola princess in the film have grabbed the attention of the audience. In a recent interview, the beautiful actress opened up about finalizing her look for the film.

According to Trisha, she tried more than 50 looks for her character Kundavai. “You guys have just seen some of Kundavai’s looks from the film. We tried over 50 looks for the film, and later shortlisted around 30 of them. Later, we got the best 10 looks from that list. Chose from which Mani Ratnam sir decided what would work for his film. All credit for my look goes to Mani sir and the styling team – Eka Lakhani and his team,” added the actress.
Coming to the character of Trisha Krishnan in Ponniyin Selvan, she is seen in the role of Ilaiya Pirati aka Princess Kundavai Devi of the Chola dynasty. She is the sister of Aditya Karikalan and Arumozhi Varman and the girlfriend of Vanthiyathevan. Kundavai is described as a woman of extraordinary intelligence and courage. Initially, several popular actresses including Nayanthara and Anushka Shetty were considered to play the role. But eventually, Trisha came to play the role of Kundavai in Mani Ratnam’s dream project.
Chiyan Vikram is playing the role of Aditya Karikalan in the film, which features Jayam Ravi as the lead character Arunmozhi Varman aka Ponniyin Selvan. Karthi appears in the role of Vanthiyathevan. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is returning to Tamil cinema by playing the main antagonist Nandini in Ponniyin Selvan. AR Rahman has composed the music for the magnum opus, which is produced by Mani Ratnam’s home banner Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. The film will hit the theaters on Friday, 30 September.
