Bollywood actress Richa Chadha on Thursday issued a statement offering an apology after facing massive backlash for her derogatory tweet insulting and mocking the Indian Army and Galwan martyrs in particular. Now many army veterans and family members of Galwan martyrs have spoken against the actor. Meghna Girish, mother of martyr Major Akshay Girish, broke down in tears expressing her disappointment over Chadha’s remarks, sharing the pain she and the parents of other Galwan martyrs had to go through.
Speaking to Republic on debate, Meghna Girish, mother of Martyr Major Akshay Girish expressed the pain of losing her beloved son and said, “My first thought is how can someone be so unfaithful and so despicable. Civilians never walk. Soldiers who protect every citizen were gunned down. To be honest, Galwan was a matter of pride for all of us. Col. Bikumalla Santosh Babu and 19 other martyrs got the bravery. The way they foiled a well-planned attack He defended and taught the enemy a lesson he will never forget. He stood up for each and every one of us.”
“I don’t know this actress (Richa Chadha) but when I saw her comment, I felt…irrespective of your political affiliation, no citizen of the country ever lets down the bravehearts. This is inexcusable. ” ,” He added.

Chadha insulted Galvan martyrs
Earlier, Chadha had courted a major controversy over his tweet, where he insulted and mocked the martyrs of the Indian Army who made the supreme sacrifice in the Galwan clash against the People’s Liberation Army of China. Responding to Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi’s comment where he said the Indian Army is fully prepared to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Chadha took a dig and wrote ‘Galwan sej hi’.
