Miss Marvel aka Kamala Khan’s on-screen parents Mohan Kapoor and Zenobia Shroff opened up about their superhero baby!

New Delhi: In a historic move, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced its South-Asian superhero to Marvel Studios’ Miss Marvel, which is now streaming in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam on Disney+ Hotstar. In which new episodes are falling every week. The highly acclaimed series stars Pakistani-Canadian debutante Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, a teenage superhero embroiled in a remarkably rich, new mythology that takes her to exciting places. where she learns the truth about her past and family.

An avid gamer and a fervent fan-fiction writer who grew up in New Jersey, Kamala is a superhero megafan with a big imagination—especially when it comes to Captain Marvel. After feeling misfit at school and sometimes even at home, his life takes a turn as he is bestowed with superpowers that change his life forever.

Mohan Kapoor, who plays Kamala Khan’s father in the series, said, “Yusuf is a warm, caring, kind person, but his wife Muniba definitely has the upper hand in the house.”

“He loves Kamala and always encourages her to follow her dreams, although his wife is a bit strict. He understands where his wife is coming from, but he also understands that this is the 21st century and that she is a young teenage girl living in Jersey City. He tries to protect and soften things for her when Muniba becomes too overbearing and decision-making,” he adds.

Kamala’s family is her lifelong anchor in the show. While her father Yusuf is more open to his daughter’s creative aspirations and fascination with superheroes, her mother Muniba is conservative and wants her daughter to follow a traditional path with a focus on family and her future.

Meanwhile, Zenobia Shroff, who plays Kamala Khan’s mother, agreed that her character is “a bad cop for Yusuf’s good cop”.

“Ms. Marvel’s story is beautifully written with a lovely dynamic between Yusuf and Muniba, but she is very hard on Kamala. I think it’s one of those things where you get a teacher who says, ‘I was tough on you because I knew how great you could be.’ Muniba knows Kamala’s potential and has something special in her, but she still wants to protect her from all of them,” said Zenobia Shroff.

While Kamala pushes the boundaries of her family, her brother Amir, played by Sagar Sheikh, is her ally in softening the traditional values and expectations of her parents.

Talking about his reel relationship with Kamala, Shaikh said, “He is kind of different and not as funny as he thinks he is, but I think Kamala gets a lot out of him. Huh. They are both cowards in their own ways, but he chooses to focus on his relationship with fiancé Taisha, rather than superheroes and artistic pursuits. Her parents are stricter than the average American household, so she is kind of a middleman between Kamala and her parents. He is calm, but he can also be tough when needed. ,
