Air India has recently returned to the Tata group

Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan said that 2022 has been a great year for the company. The company has expanded its network and fleet over the last few months. Vistara has over 5,000 employees and operates around 8,500 flights per month. Its share in the domestic market in December 2022 was 9.2 percent. In November last year, Singapore Airlines had announced the merger of Vistara with Air India. Air India has recently returned to the Tata group.

Kannan said that by the middle of next year, the airline will have a total of 70 aircraft, including seven Boeing 787s. Out of which 10 aircraft will be A321 and 53 aircraft will be A320neo. Out of the A320neo, 10 aircraft will have only economy class while the rest will have all three classes.

Plan to bring airline business under one brand

Tata Group is preparing to bring all its airline business under one brand. With this, both AirAsia India and Vistara will be merged with Air India. Tata Group has also started the exercise of bringing these three airlines together. In October last year, the Tata group paid Air India Rs. 18,000 crore was procured. Malaysian airline AirAsia has sold the remaining 16.33 per cent stake in AirAsia India to Air India. AirAsia India started flights to India in June 2014. AirAsia Group’s eight-year journey in India has been a difficult one. His losses were increasing continuously.
