After successful 5G spectrum auction, Airtel to revolutionize 5G in India from this August
New Delhi: Organized by Department of Telecommunications, Government of India Bharti Airtel in 5G auction Ltd. has won and the company has bought 19,867.8 MHz spectrum at a total cost of Rs 43,084 crore. It covers 26 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands with a pan-India footprint. Also strengthening of mid band spectrum (900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz). With this, Airtel has bought 5G spectrum for the next 20 years.
Superior 5G Service to Customers
Airtel now has the largest mobile broadband footprint in the country. The company will always be at the forefront of bringing 5G revolution in the telecom sector in India. Over the years, the company has followed a smart and consistent strategy in terms of spectrum acquisition, resulting in Airtel being the largest operator of medium and low band spectrum today. Airtel is now planning to launch 5G services in various parts of the country, starting with some major cities. The telco has signed contracts with Samsung, Nokia and Ericsson – as network partners – to offer 5G services across India. The service is expected to start this month. The company expects consumers to quickly adopt 5G technology due to the increasing number of 5G capable devices available in the market and affordable prices.
Airtel has been at the forefront of using 5G for the last few years. Telco was the first company in India to test 5G technology in 2018. The company has since conducted several other tests in preparation for launching 5G services. Last year, Airtel conducted the country’s first rural 5G trial apart from Delhi. The telco was the first to test 5G on the 700 MHz band with such a method. The company assured the customers that it can offer the best services in India in terms of 5G coverage, speed and latency.
Recently Airtel launched India’s first private 5G network at Bosch facility and partnered with Apollo Hospitals to launch the country’s first 5G connected ambulance. The brand showcased a demo of online gaming launched with Airtel 5G. Earlier this year, Airtel organized a special 5G event. In this, famous cricketer Kapil Dev was shown in a 5G powered live hologram.
