AC Price Hike: You Will Have To Pay Extra To Buy 5 Star Rated AC-Fridge From July, Know Why?AC price hike: New air conditioners with 5 star rating are expected to be more expensive from July. Actually, from July onwards, major changes have been planned in the energy rating of ACs. Presently, the star ratings assigned to ACs and refrigerators are being tightened, which will result in a one-star reduction in the ratings of all existing ACs and refrigerators. So if you have bought a 5-star AC this summer, it will be only 4-star right now. And you have to pay more to buy 5 star AC with less power consumption. It is believed that this can lead to an increase in AC prices by 7 to 10 percent.

5 Star AC will be expensive

At present, the change in the rules of star rating on AC is going to be effective from July. But this rule will also apply to refrigerators from January next year. It is believed that the cost of manufacturing ACs or refrigerators with 4 star or 5 star rating will increase for the companies they will pass on to the customers, making ACs costlier from July and refrigerators from January next year. With the new energy rating guidelines, companies manufacturing ACs and refrigerators will be charged Rs. There will be an additional burden of 2000 to 2500.

New star rating will save electricity

Energy consumption of ACs and refrigerators and change in star rating is expected to save electricity up to 20%. Consumer durables companies have 6 months to dispose of old stock. But all new products will be with new energy consumption rating. The change in the energy rating of ACs was due to take effect in January 2022. But due to the demand of the companies, it was postponed for 6 months.
