The lawsuit states, “The deliberate failure of the US to implement the Leahy Act is shocking in view of the escalation of Israeli human rights violations since the start of the Gaza war on October 7, 2023.” The lawsuit states that more than 45,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli bombing and ground operations in Gaza since the beginning of October 2023. Also, the United Nations and major rights groups around the world have accused the Israeli army of committing war crimes, including genocide.
The plaintiff teacher expressed her grief
The plaintiff in the case is a Gaza teacher known as Amal Gaza. She has been forcibly displaced seven times since the war began, and 20 members of her family have been killed in Israeli attacks, the report said. “My suffering and the unimaginable damage to my family would be greatly reduced if the US stopped providing military support to Israeli units that commit gross human rights violations,” she said in a statement accompanying the lawsuit.

The highest number of killed and injured are women and children. The Health Ministry also says that out of Gaza’s population of 23 lakh, about 2 percent of the population has been killed by Israel, while 4 percent of the population is injured.
