The Indian stock market closed with a decline on Thursday. Investors appeared in a cautious mood before the inflation figures were released. Inflation figures will be released on Thursday evening. Bombay Stock Exchange’s index Sensex closed at 81,289 today with a decline of 0.29 percent or 236 points. At the time of market closing, out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 12 stocks were in the green and 18 in the red. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange’s index Nifty closed at 24,548 today with a decline of 0.38 percent or 93 points. At the time of market closing, out of the 50 stocks of the Nifty pack, 14 stocks were in the green, 35 in the red and one stock was trading without any change. Today, IT stocks have seen a rise due to expectations of rate cut in the US.
Condition of Nifty shares
Among the Nifty pack stocks, the biggest gainers on Thursday were Adani Enterprises (1.90 per cent), Bharti Airtel (1.51 per cent), Indusind Bank (1.34 per cent), Tech Mahindra (1.21 per cent) and Adani Ports (0.84 per cent). On the other hand, the biggest losers were NTPC (2.63 per cent), HUL (2.31 per cent), Coal India (2.17 per cent), Hero Motocorp (2.05 per cent) and BPCL (1.85 per cent).
Status of sectoral indices
Among the sectoral indices, the biggest decline today was recorded in Nifty Media by 2.29 percent. Apart from this, Nifty Bank fell by 0.33 percent, Nifty Auto by 0.80 percent, Nifty Financial Services by 0.31 percent, Nifty FMCG by 1.09 percent, Nifty Pharma by 0.33 percent, Nifty PSU Bank by 0.78 percent, Nifty Private Bank by 0.43 percent, Nifty Realty by 0.41 percent, Nifty Healthcare Index by 0.32 percent, Nifty Consumer Durables by 0.59 percent, Nifty Oil & Gas by 0.91 percent and Nifty Midsmall Healthcare by 0.17 percent. On the other hand, Nifty IT rose by 0.77 percent and Nifty Metal by 0.25 percent.
