Seven people are reported dead in a massive fire at a private hospital in Dindigul city of Tamil Nadu. More than 100 patients are trapped inside the hospital, efforts are on to rescue them. This hospital is a four-storeyed one. The fire in the hospital has created panic in the entire area. More than 50 ambulances, including private ambulances, have been called to shift the patients to other hospitals.
Firefighters and police personnel are continuously engaged in rescue work. Till the time of writing the news, rescue workers are busy evacuating patients from the four-story building of the hospital. Many parts of the hospital have been badly damaged due to the fire.
Relief and rescue work continues at the spot.
The fire department said that after receiving information about the fire, the teams immediately reached the spot and started rescue work. However, rescue work is being difficult due to heavy smoke and fire in the hospital. Special ambulances have been arranged to evacuate the patients trapped in the hospital. More than 50 ambulances and private ambulances have also been involved in this effort so that the patients can be immediately transferred to other hospitals.
Panic among patients and their families
Local police and fire officials have taken immediate action considering the seriousness of the matter. Police said that the number of dead and the cause of the incident is being ascertained. Officials also said that all possible help is being given in the relief work and investigation into the cause of the fire has been started. Panic spread among the patients and their relatives after the fire broke out in the hospital.
