The cold is increasing continuously in the country’s capital Delhi, but rain is continuing in the South Indian states. Fog remains a big problem in the north-eastern states and snowfall has started in the northern hilly states. There is a possibility of snowfall along with rain in Darjeeling and Kalimpong of West Bengal in the coming days. Light rain is also expected in Delhi on Sunday. If it rains, the people of Delhi can get a lot of relief and the air here can become clean. However, due to strong winds, the AQI of Delhi has improved a lot.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rains in the south-eastern states of the country in the coming days. A yellow alert has been issued for Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. Cyclone Fangal also caused a lot of destruction in these states and now the central government teams are going there and assessing the damage. There is a possibility of heavy rains in these states in the coming three to four days.
Friday night was the coldest in Delhi.
Delhi experienced its coldest night of this winter so far on Friday (December 6) with the minimum temperature recorded at 7.1 degrees Celsius. The weather department has predicted light rain in the city on Sunday. According to the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature on Friday night was recorded three degrees below the season’s average. The maximum temperature on Saturday was 25.4 degrees Celsius. Thursday and Friday recorded the second lowest temperatures of the season when the minimum temperature dropped to 8.5 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the maximum temperature is likely to be 24 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is eight degrees Celsius.
Chance of snowfall in Darjeeling
Light rain or snowfall is likely in parts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong, northern districts of West Bengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted this in its forecast till December 10. The IMD said on Saturday that dense fog may prevail in parts of the sub-Himalayan region of West Bengal during late night and morning hours till December 10. In the southern part of the state, light rain is likely at one or two places in West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, Purba and West Bardhaman, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia districts on December 9.
Temperatures may drop in Kolkata
According to the IMD, the weather is likely to remain mainly dry in other parts of West Bengal till December 10. In the last 24 hours, Darjeeling city recorded a minimum temperature of 5.6 degrees Celsius, which was the lowest in the state, while Kalimpong recorded a minimum temperature of 10.5 degrees Celsius. Purulia, located in the western part of the state, was the second coldest place with a temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius. Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 16.5 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the mercury in the metropolis may go down by one degree on Sunday morning.
